On Giving Tuesday, your donation to ARI will help find the next treatment for autoimmune disease!

With over 106 chronic illnesses known to be caused by defects in the immune system, autoimmune diseases collectively affect at least 16 million people in the United States. As shown in the 2 lists below, the top 10 diseases for women and for men are different, raising questions about how hormones affect these diseases.

Although the prevalence of autoimmune diseases is believed to be rising, the causes of such diseases are unknown and treatments are limited. Because of this, many people face debilitating symptoms, organ failure, and high medical expenses. Those with autoimmune diseases also face an increased risk of developing comorbidities. As seen below, 25% of the All of Us population diagnosed with one autoimmune disease have a comorbidity of another condition.

In order to solve the mystery of autoimmune diseases, research is important. It helps us uncover the underlying mechanisms of autoimmune diseases and to generate a better understanding of how these diseases develop and progress over time. One of the goals here at the Autoimmune Registry is to support research to improve existing treatment protocols. To help us accomplish our mission, we'd appreciate any donation for this upcoming Giving Tuesday on November 28th. You can also support the Autoimmune Registry by joining our registry or sharing it with a friend who has an autoimmune condition.
